Amber G Productions was formed in response to the Deaf community's desire to see and experience music in the same way that hearing people connect emotionally to the sounds. Our team is comprised of prolific music interpreters, hearing and Deaf, with a combined experience of over 30 years and several hundred concerts, festivals, rodeos and other venues. In constant involvement with the Deaf Community, we are committed to matching the consumer's needs and we strive to provide access with integrity and the highest ethical practices. We do not consider clear concepts “good enough.”  We strive to provide accommodations that go above and beyond other agencies so that listeners and music goers, whether Deaf or hard of hearing, have full access to the experience.  Our interpreters research, study, dialogue about and delve into the nuances of music and provide language for all the layers that are found in music.

Mission:  We will be a leader in performance interpreting agency by providing performance interpretations in line with the integrity and original intent of each artist.  Exceeding the the industry's best practices,  we will remain dedicated to providing the Deaf consumer full access to musical/performance experiences.  We will be an essential element in production companies providing access for the Deaf community. We will adhere to the mandates of Title III of the American with Disabilities Act.

Often praised for her ability to show the connection between lyrics and sounds, Amber's music interpretations demonstrate the emotional bonds which have driven music lovers to concerts for years. Her interpretations bring the music to life in a way that is not often seen in music interpreting. Deaf audience members have often said they are able to connect to music performance more then they ever had in the past. Her interpretations delighted and inspired hearing music aficionados to learn sign language. Amber has always loved music and the Deaf community, but it was not until she saw the San Antonio Deaf Dance Company and the Wild Zappers perform that she realized that she could hone her interpreting skills to bridge the access gap in the music industry.  When her childhood dream of becoming the first white female rapper went unrealized (outside of her shower), she turned this passion and gift into a specialization in music interpreting-especially hip hop and rap. Deaf people that truly love and adore

music often request her because they know she will “bring it”. Every song and genre is Amber's favorite! She has over 14 years of interpreting and has a Master's Degree in ASL/English Interpreting. Her certifications are National Certification RID CT&CI, NIC, Texas BEI Level V, Oral Certified: Comprehensive

Audrey Reyna earned a BA in International Studies from Baylor University and has been working as a American Sign Language teacher for 7 years. While working as an educator, she wrote the ASL curriculum and student textbook for Katy ISD. During this time, she also became a certified interpreter and began interning at several music festivals where she fell in love with the challenge of music interpreting.  Audrey Reyna is the Operations Manager for Amber G Productions and an interpreter with the agency.

Interpreting

Admired, respected, and well known in the deaf community, JoAnn "Jo Rose" Benfield, from Austin, Texas, is a Deaf Interpreter in the process of becoming nationally certified.  She is currently the Interim Director for the Gallaudet University Regional Center - South at Austin Community College.  She earned her 3 B.A. degrees, along with her M.A. degree from Gallaudet University, the only university in the world for the deaf and hard of hearing. Music interpreting/performing has been a talent and passion of hers since she was 5 years old. Growing up deaf in a deaf family to music from Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and others, this sparked Jo Rose's lifelong dream to act, dance, and perform.  In 2014, she had a debut on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, performing in a sign language rap battle alongside Wiz Khalifa. That was only the beginning.  She has had opportunities to interpret music for her community at major festivals and concerts of well known artists. On a personal note, she loves various genres of music, movies, and theatre productions and has her own channel on YouTube and Vimeo: musicaldancingrose.  You could say that with 27 years of experience since childhood, she has been requested for interpreting/performing because she truly captures the essence of the art and ensures that her deaf/hard of hearing music/theatre-lovers receive equal access.

Shelby is a passionate interpreter from Austin, Texas. Originally she began learning ASL at the age of 11 - the Deaf community and the rich language of ASL has been an integral part of her life ever since. She now holds her interpreting degree awarded by Austin Community College and has been interpreting professionally for the past 4 years. Interpreting music and theatre productions is one of her all time favorite types of work in the interpreting field: "I love the unique challenge and beauty of interpreting music for deaf concert goers. I enjoy working with such a good team of both hearing and Deaf performance interpreters who share the same passion. I really look forward to see how accessibility will improve for the Deaf community throughout my career."

Lucy Brotherton, a certified sign language interpreter in Austin, Texas, has been in love with music her whole life. Raised in a large and very artistic family, Lucy listened to all genres of music. Songs were stories with rhythm and rhyme and she always was drawn to the images they conjured up in her mind. After getting her BA in Art at Lewis and Clark College in Portland Oregon, she moved to NYC to work as a photographer. In '91 she relocated to Austin and, as luck would have it, accepted an entry level job at Texas School for the Deaf. Over the next 15 years Lucy learned to sign and became deeply involved in the Deaf community at TSD. She spent the last 10 years there as a classroom teacher in both high school and middle school. In '06 Lucy shifted gears again and became an interpreter.  After interpreting her first music festival in '07, she realized that she was where she wanted to be. ....
